Maternal loving kindness

She took great care of us novices, especially of those who felt unwell, for one reason or another. She showed maternal kindness. I remember one day, having washed the floor of the chapel, because of a draft I got a cold with a sore throat; partly due to this and because I was homesick, tears started flowing from my eyes. The Servant of God said softly to me: "Why are you crying?" I replied: "I have a sore throat." She gave me a silk handkerchief to put around the neck and sent me to bed. Such loving kindness did me so much good that soon all the ache was gone. We all greatly respected and trusted her. She was a good example, for her virtue and especially for her goodness. I consider her holy. If the Servant of God was not holy, I would not know what the word holiness means.
