Family tree of the Streitel Family
Mother Frances' paternal family "has its roots in the territory of the Upper Palatinate (Oberpfaltz), belongs to an upper class with a family crest, and sees the male branch of the Streitel family holding high-ranking positions in forestry offices for generations. The great-grandfather Josef Franz Adam Streitel at the end of the 18th century was part of the citizens with the highest income bracket as also shown by the amount of his pension in 1814, at the end of his working career. A BENEDICTINE AMONG THE ANCESTORS
“Since the beginning of the 18th century, Amalia's paternal family had lived in Kallmünz (and also in other nearby small towns) in the Regensburg district, a green area with large areas of forests. Among the many siblings, one of her grandfather’s sisters, the eldest, was the prioress at the Benedictine monastery of St. Walburga in Eichstätt until 1848. One of his brothers was a trader and Mayor of Kallmünz, one a director at the post office and another brother was the royal district forest supervisor.
Franz Anton Streitel (1773-1846), Amalia’s grandfather, the royal district forestry supervisor, was active in several towns, including Ingolstadt. In 1808, he married Eva Maria Augustin (1787-1878), daughter of a landlord and butcher from Kallmünz. He inherited a large estate from his parents, previously owned by his grandparents, where two houses called Streitelhaus had been built at the time. The first of many children was Martin Adam (1808-1894), Amalia’s father, who grew up on this farm" (T. MURADOR, Ibid).
