Charism and mission

"RECOGNIZING AND LOVING THE PATHWAYS OF THE SORROWFUL MOTHER"
-
We venerate Mary, Mother of Sorrows, whose title we bear and look to her, virgin and mother, as a model of faith, contemplation of the Word of God, humble and compassionate disciple.
The charism that emerged during the founding years of the Congregation continues to exert a dynamic influence and shape our specific mission in the Church.
-
Through a life dedicated to apostolic service, animated by a contemplative spirit, we care for those in need, especially the poor, and in our poverty we seek God above all else.
Profound respect, charity, generosity, simplicity, humility, penance, love of the cross and fidelity to the Church are essential virtues of the spiritual inheritance that inspire us to live our vocation as Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother.
This inheritance is a permanent gift that calls us to continuous renewal in spirit, to develop our charism and to adapt to the needs of the times. The apostolic and spiritual inheritance we received from St. Francis and Mother Frances urges us to give ourselves unreservedly to Christ as instruments to bring fuller life to others.

TEACHING AND HEALING IN THE NAME OF JESUS
Teaching and healing have been the primary apostolic work of the Congregation since its origins. Education and health care for those who suffer because of their poorness, powerlessness or deprivation continue to be the focus of our apostolate.
