The asceticism of bitter olives
She was very controlled, always mastering herself. She preferred simple food, never wanted exceptions and mortified herself so much that the Confessor sometimes had to force her not to deprive herself of what was necessary. Once, having myself received some olives from a benefactress, believed them to be Muscat of Alexandria and used them as a condiment in the risotto with milk, the Servant of God ate it calmly saying: "Today the Lord has put His gall into it and we must take it with joy".
