Castel Sant'Elia, December 5, 2016: Antonio at 3 years old was nearly blind, showing signs of ocular strabismus. The situation precipitated severe vision loss and astigmatism. The family, from Bari, moved to Rome and eventually to Castel Sant'Elia in 2004. The child, hospitalized in Siena, underwent surgery. The doctors said that this surgery would have been the first of a long series and that it would be difficult for the child to see again and take off the glasses. The weeping mother happened to meet two Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother who took her home and prayed together at Mother Frances' grave. A month after the surgery on both eyes, the child was able to see even the smallest letters during the eye check-up, so much so that the doctor told the mother to throw away the glasses because the child was completely healed.
