“May . . . graces give light to my words!”

THE RECIPIENT OF THE LETTER

Rev. Paul Geyer

Rev. Paul Geyer was born in Bayern, Germany. He was the Vicar General of the La Crosse Diocese in the USA, and later, parish priest of St. John in Marshfield, Wisconsin, until 1892. When he heard of the work the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother were doing in Wichita, he was particularly impressed and asked Mother Frances to send a group of sisters for the hospital in his parish. Thus, a community was established in Marshfield in December 1890. Rev. Geyer was of great help and support, especially for material needs at the beginning of the ministry, as he did every time a new community was established. The congregation owes him and many other priests in America gratitude for supporting the new congregation.
