St. Mary's Hospital

APPROFONDIMENTI02.jpg

On December 9, 1905, two sisters arrived in Roswell, New Mexico, to explore the possibility of building a hospital there. On April 27, 1906, three of them began working with tubercular patients. Three years later, in 1909, as patient needs grew, the hospital was expanded, and an elevator was installed. In 1913, the chapel and convent of St. Michael were built. These expansions were followed by others, made necessary Translated in the following years as health care activities increased. In 1981, the hospital celebrated 75 years of service and the Archbishop of Santa Fe and Sr. Julietta Mendoza, Superior of the Tulsa Province, congratulated the sisters, the medical staff and the people for the good they had done. Unfortunately, in 1989 the sisters had to leave the service due to lack of members, but the Congregation, started a fund in 1992 to ensure continuation of pastoral services in the hospital.
