On February 1, 2005, the University of St. Francis of Assisi was opened in the building of the Billy Gancho School in Nova Xavantina. Evening university courses in Pedagogy were offered to integrate the specific preparation of the school professors and other young people of the Region. For bureaucratic reasons and due to insufficient financial funds and personnel, the university was closed.
