GOIANIA, BRAZIL

Day Program

APPROFONDIMENTI02.jpg

In July 1995, a new social activity opened at the Mãe Dolorosa Convent in collaboration with the Government of the State of Goias and the Municipality of Goiânia. It welcomed 300 children and adolescents from 0 to 14 years old for a day program, offering them care, nutrition, sports and artistic education. The aim was to prevent the social scourge of street children, which was increasing in the suburbs of Goiânia. Initially the premises of the New Convent were made available, but then the first convent was adapted for this ministry and later also the two houses inhabited by the families of the Convent's custodians.
