1955
MONDAVIO, ITALY
Civil Hospital
On Nov. 17, 1955, four sisters arrived in Mondavio, in the province of Pesaro, invited by Bishop Paupini to run the town's Civil Hospital in place of the Franciscan Sisters of the Child Jesus. The Community was welcomed by the mayor, the people of Mondavio, and the parish priest, Msgr. Carbone. On that occasion Msgr. Carbone read a telegram from Pope Pius XII wishing the sisters fruitful charitable activities. In 1983 the hospital in Mondavio closed its ordinary activities, transferring the health care service to Fossombrone. Two Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother continued their nursing commitment by taking daily trips to Fossombrone and lived in the St. Joseph Institute together with the Mondavio community.
