ABENBERG, GERMANY
Marienburg Convent
About nine years after Mother Frances' death, Marienburg, a former Augustinian convent, was purchased on July 19, 1929, the feast day of St. Stilla. The first four sisters arrived in Abenberg from Vienna on August 17th to care for the sick at home and later a kindergarten was opened. The convent, then badly damaged, was renovated and modified. In 1922 the novitiate in Vienna was moved there. Finally, in 1923, the Ansbach authorities authorized the opening of a school for the training of kindergarten teachers.
