Translation of the body of Mother Francesca Streitel

CASTEL SANT'ELIA, MAY 10, 1949

On March 14, 1949, the tomb of Mother Frances Streitel was opened in the presence of General Superior M. Melania Eberth and her council, Fr. Aquilin Reichert, Postulator of the Cause, Bishop Giuseppe Gori and other local authorities. Pope Pius XII had in fact given permission for the transfer of Mother Frances' mortal remains from the local cemetery, located near the Basilica of St. Elias, to the Sisters' Chapel. A few days later, on May 10th, solemnly, with the participation of the people of Castel Sant'Elia and many Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, Mother Frances' "bones et cineres" were taken in procession to the Chapel, as shown by the precious photo taken during the event.
