On the 137th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, the icon 'Vision of the Two Mountains of Venerable Mother Frances Streitel' was blessed. The blessing ceremony took place during Vespers in the church of the Casa Generalizia, Via Paolo III - Rome, in the presence of many sisters from the St. Francis Region, iconographers Sr. Rossana Leone and Sr. Renata Bozzetto (Sisters of Jesus), and several friends. Sr. Catherine Marie Hanegan, accompanied by her General Council, presided over the ceremony. The sisters' choir, led by Sr. Maria Stella Carta, performed hymns from Mother Frances Streitel's music book. At the conclusion of the celebration, led by Sr. Teresina, the sisters received a book containing reflections on the icon and the congregation's Charism.
The icon was 'written' by the iconographers of the 'La Glikophilousa' Spirituality and Icon Technique Workshop. The 120x200 cm work was created using natural pigments on framed and gessoed wood; the gold background was crafted with 22-carat gold leaf, applied in three layers.
