The "Short Chronicle" of Castel Sant'Elia:
Castel Sant’Elia remembers the Foundress of the Kindergarten "On March 28th. Castel Sant’Elia wanted to honor the Servant of God Mother Frances Streitel, founder of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother and kindergarten, dedicating a street of the town to her. His Excellency Msgr. Marcello Rosina, Apostolic Administrator of Nepi e Sutri arrived at 11:00 am and was received by the parish priest, the mayor and other town authorities. He celebrated Holy Mass in the parish. The bishop, in the homily, spoke of Mother Frances with moving words, emphasizing her work and virtues, and warmly praised the authorities who wished to pay a rightful tribute of gratitude to her. She not only founded the Kindergarten of Castel Sant’ Elia but chose it as a silent and fruitful place for her apostolate and virtues. After Mass, attended by Mother General M. Clara Wartner, with a large group of sisters from the Motherhouse of Rome, the bishop, clergy, authorities, sisters and people gathered at the entrance of the street from the square in front of the parish leading to the kindergarten. The mayor, Mr. Nazzareno Mazzolini, declared that with this gesture the municipality not only wanted to honor the memory of Mother Frances Streitel, but also wanted to give the widest recognition to the precious work that the sisters had been doing for many years for the care of children and young women. Then the marble plaque with the title: "Via dell'Asilo di Madre Francesca Streitel" was unveiled and Monsignor Marcello Rosina proceeded to the blessing. The authorities visited the room where Mother Frances lived and died and signed the visitors' register. This is how Castel Sant’Elia wanted to honor her benefactress who was also a great devotee of SS Maria ad Rupes".
